Ian was our author of choice for launching the Institute of Education’s (IoE) new space, The Learning Hub.
We wanted someone who was very versatile as this was part of the concept we wanted to reproduce in The Hub. Ian fulfilled this wish as he is not only an author across a wide range of ages from Nursery to Young Adult, but a wonderful illustrator too.
He is also a very popular author with regards to IoE student book loans and therefore we felt he was the perfect choice for a very special occasion. Ian was splendid in so many way; so full of knowledge and anecdotes, his illustrations, which he kindly bought for the evening were beyond magical and needless to say his story reading was spellbinding. I can’t recommend Ian Beck enough.

Ian has visited us at The Royal Ballet School twice now to speak about his writing and illustration. He has proved to be a very popular speaker - the students have found him to be engaging and full of knowledge as well as warm and witty!
He has spoken about both his novels and illustration and the processes that inform both. The students have enjoyed hearing extracts from his books and asking questions about his writing.
