“Since being Comics Artist in Residence at the V&A, Karen Rubins has continued to run inspiring and engaging manga drawing workshops for 13-15years and 16 -19years. Her reassuring and supportive approach helps young people develop their own style.
Karen’s step by step teaching of manga principles gives the attendees a good background to create their own characters and storylines.”
David Judd, Creative Projects Manager, Learning Department, Victoria and Albert Museum
“Karen is consistently professional and brimming with innovative ways to engage children in literature, history and creating their own work. “

“Karen has run a series of highly successful Manga workshops for children and young people in Barnet libraries since 2010. Karen is excellent with the children regardless of their age or ability and manages to convey her huge expertise and love of comics, with an accessible and relaxed approach. “
Lucy Merritt, Service Development Librarian, Barnet Libraries
“During each session she engaged the children with her varied approaches: showing photos on the screen, sketching on large paper and showing the children her published comics... Karen then created a shared comic strip with the children which was fantastic to watch. Each year group created characters and a story with Karen that she illustrated the story as they worked together... it was great for the children to see an artist at work!!”
