A workshop based on My Name Is Not Refugee, a picture book about the experience of being a child refugee. We explore the issues in the book by asking the children to put themselves in the situation of the main character and think about how their own experience connects to the experience of being a stranger in a new place. Involves some black and white drawing.
Session B
A workshop about food poverty based on It’s a No Money Day. We explore the issues by asking the children to put themselves in the situation of the main characters and thinking about the choices available to this little family. Involves some black and white drawing.

I am based in Scotland. If I am driving myself I will travel south as far as Manchester/ Liverpool Sheffield, Leeds or Hull.
If I am using the train I will go further.
I have family in Milton Keynes so I would be happy to travel to this area.

Kate’s Zoom session was amazing, it really was very well structured. She gave the children an in depth look at the refugee crisis and how refugees are represented in the media, the content was simple and easy for children to grasp and discuss. She pointed out how to draw the illustrations and gave the idea how space is used in a picture book. The sessions were wonderful, educational and incredibly valuable.I feel the children really got some valuable insight from it.
