Boy Underwater
"A huge thank you to Adam. The boys adored the event, the teachers were very enthusiastic as well and several have commented to me how much they enjoyed it. The boys have been hilarious about the book - someone found the page 120 reference to 'penis and vaginas' so there has been much smirking and giggling about that - but everyone is absolutely hooked and reading it non-stop. Here are some quotes from the librarians: (bona fide, genuine)
“I absolutely loved this book – it’s the best book I’ve ever read” Josh
“A really special moving book – can’t wait to meet the author” Oliver
“Wow – a really powerful story, I couldn’t put it down” Doahn
"The workshop lead by Adam Baron was truly inspirational as it gave the students the chance to create their own story and use their own imagination. He used a conventional story of Goldilocks and turned it into a creative unpredictable masterpiece which left the students in stitches! The workshop had a big impact on the students as it gave them a chance to learn about creative writing techniques."
Librarian at Judge Meadow Community College in Leicester
"Adam headlined our Leiciester City Readathon event on 3rd October - and ran a 2hr session including a story-writing workshop for 250 children (years 6, 7 and 8) at Leicester Racecourse and a similar session at Judge Meadow Community College for years 7 and 8. It was a brilliantly engaging session that got them enthused about reading and writing stories."

"I really enjoyed the assembly especially when we created the story. Thank you so much and please come back to our school." "I really enjoyed Adam Baron coming in and talking to us because everyone was included. I also really enjoyed it because I didn't expect it to be so energetic. I thought that he was just going to talk about how he writes books or about himself, but he didn't, he did lots of things. I liked it best when he made up a story with us." "I like the book because it was funny, actually it was hilarious. It really made laugh" "I REALLY enjoyed Boy Underwater! It had so many dark twists, though at the same time it may me laugh out loud. It is full of emotion."
Bounds Green School: Adam was absolutely fantastic- he was wonderful with the children and so friendly to everyone he met. So many people, including children, have come up to me today to say how much they enjoyed the experience. I collected some thoughts from a couple of children, and have written them up below: "I really enjoyed the assembly especially when we created the story. It was funny how one of the baby bears was called Orlin. Thank you so much and please come back to our school." (Orlin) "I really enjoyed Adam Baron coming in and talking to us because everyone was included. I also really enjoyed it because I didn't expect it to be so energetic. I thought that he was just going to talk about how he writes books or about himself, but he didn't, he did lots of things. I liked it best when he made up a story with us." Lilli Lots of children came afterwards to buy the book and meet Adam. A few children in my class have already read the book, I thought you would be interested to hear what they had to say: "I like the book because it was funny, actually it was hilarious. It really made laugh when he named the teddy bear 'Not Mr Fluffy' (but Mr Teddy in his own right)." Ishmael "I REALLY enjoyed Boy Underwater! It had so many dark twists, though at the same time it may me laugh out loud. It is full of emotion." Maya I really can't thank Adam enough for his enthusiasm-it was greatly appreciated by our children! Thank you so much, and hopefully we will work together again in the future,
I used to perform comedy so am used to providing fun, dynamic workshops that really educate young people about the basic elements of storytelling. My workshops will inspire young people to create their own, successful narratives. For ten years I have been MA Course Director at Kingston University where I have tutored many students who have gone on to be successful authors.
