Type of Artist:
Author and poet
Interactive talks
Readings/performances
Writing workshops on prose or poetry
Any
Maximum of 4, plus an introductory assembly
The optimum length of sessions varies obviously depending on age-range and the type of activity, but here’s a rough guide:
Key Stage 1 Assembly: 30 minutes
Key Stage 2 Assembly: 45 minutes
Key Stage 3/4: Assembly 45 minutes
Nursery/Reception: 20 – 30 minutes
Year 1/2: 30 – 45 minutes
Year 3/4: 45 minutes – 1 hour
Year 5/6: 1 – 1½ hours
Key Stage 3/4: 1 – 1½ hours
The length will be the same for each of the above groupings for both interactive talks/performances and workshop sessions. But if you want workshops then an introductory assembly with the children involved in the workshops (or the whole school) is essential.

“Every child was thrilled that they were able to work with you in a workshop session. All of the children loved reading and sharing your books and each class has produced some great work based on them. It was a fantastic way to celebrate Book Week.”
Rebecca Halls, Literacy Subject leader, Kendall C E Primary School, Colchester
." Your assemblies and workshops were pitched perfectly for each year group from Foundation Stage to Year Six. We have had lots of positive feedback from parents and staff. You are a hard act to follow! I very much look forward to working with you again.”

“Dear Mr Durant, Thank you for coming to our school. I enjoyed it very much. I liked the bit when we made up the story. When I grow up I want to be an author too. Me and my friend Henry thought your stories and poems were very amusing and great. Please come again!!!”
