Justin Davies’ first book, HELP! I SMELL A MONSTER won the Fantastic Book Awards and his most recent, HAARVILLE is a darkly comic adventure full of secrets, seaweed and scoundrels! Justin’s online sessions are engaging, stimulating and fun! Above all, his aim is to encourage a life-long love for reading.

What I can do for you
A 45-60 min virtual visit would include, for example:
- Intro
- A talk, with slide presentation, about how I became a children’s author.
- A look into my author’s tool kit.
- A short reading from one of my books.
- An interactive activity depending on year group (see below), with opportunity for sharing work with me.
- Q&A.
Examples of interactive activity:
Ages 7+: creating a ‘Top Trump’ monster character (I’ll send a pdf template for printing out at the school). The focus here will be on using descriptive words.
Ages 9+: devising an ocean-themed menu, inspired by my book ‘Haarville’. Here, I’ll encourage everyone to use their senses to think about how their menu might taste; how it feels and sounds to eat; and what it looks like.
Both these activities could be completed and/or extended in class after my visit.
