Type of Artist:
I offer interactive workshops, presentations, readings and activity sessions to primary school children.
I am very happy to be flexible depending on the school’s needs and interests. I am happy to read to younger children (KS1) from my 10 Reasons to Love series (lions, elephants, penguins bears, turtles and whales) and answer questions. For older children, I offer interactive class workshops or assemblies based on issues that have inspired my books (from evolution to space, endangered species, oceans and climate change). I also offer workshops on creating nonfiction books and more general sessions about life an author and how I work with a team to create my picture books.
Readings followed by questions are most suitable for KS1, whereas more interactive workshops work well with 7-10 year olds. However I offer drawing sessions created by illustrators of my books to all ages.
I am flexible, depending on the size and needs of the school.
Usually four, but happy to discuss with the school.
45-60 minutes for a workshop or talk including questions.
30 minutes for reading sessions with younger children.
I am always happy to sign books and make extra time to chat to children, teachers and parents.
Anywhere if expenses are paid for overnight accommodation and travel if required.
Car (as I need to carry heavy bags of books or props!) maximum of £50 expenses for travel.

"Our North Yorkshire team absolutely raved about your event and we’ve had great feedback from schools across our area (I think you may have started a pangolin craze!)."
Publisher Relations Manager, National Literacy Trust
"Thanks so much for an excellent morning. We had fun. Your assemblies worked really well. The children and staff made so many connections together. We talk about and writing and writers such a lot but to meet a real one, who was friendly and clever and interested in us, was inspiring."
Matthew Lawrence, Principal, Bowling Park Primary School, Bradford
"You have inspired our teachers and our children, who thoroughly enjoyed the day. I have had fantastic feedback from all of the teachers about Mondays session so thank you!"
