Type of Artist:
Claire is a confident speaker, known for her warmth, joy, and integrity. She is comfortable delivering all types of events – from school workshops and talks, to Q&As, panel discussions, and engaging presentations for older audiences.
For children:
Claire’s Marty Moose event takes children on a lively, interactive journey into character creation and storytelling. Sessions include games, live drawing, readings, draw-alongs, and writing exercises, and can end with a book-signing if desired.
Perfect for Key Stage 1, these sessions can also be fully adapted to explore the joy of creative writing and illustration for Key Stage 2. It’s a wonderful way to get children excited for storytelling and illustration.
For older audiences:
Claire is an experienced speaker who can also deliver engaging talks for older audiences, sharing her journey into illustration and publishing, followed by a Q&A.

“Our children absolutely loved Claire's visit! She talked us through her personal history as a writer in such an engaging way, and her sketch-along was a huge hit. We have even created a corridor display of pieces produced! Thank you, Claire.”
Sam Thompson, Head, Bowden Church School
“It was fantastic to have Claire visit the school to share her new book complete with illustrations of Marty Moose. The children were engaged with the story and loved the opportunity to work with the author to create their own illustration of Marty Moose following a guided step-by-step approach. The books clearly piqued their interest as they thoughtfully engaged in the Q&A section of the visit.”
Mrs. Hall, Assistant Headteacher, Urmston Primary School
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your visit and your generosity in supporting our library development with you book donations. The staff team and the children loved meeting you and thoroughly enjoyed your sessions. We felt incredibly privileged to have you onsite promoting a love of books and talking through your experiences as an illustrator and author – I can’t thank you enough.”
Stu Wright, headteacher, Whitby Heath Primary School
“Thank you again for the visit before half term. The afternoon was magic start to finish, the children were totally wrapped in Marty Moose and his world. They were really fascinated by the process of creating a character and how his story was brought to life. The drawings they were helped to create were stunning, the children really surprised themselves and were very proud. An all-round amazing success and we'd be more than happy to see you (and Marty!) back in!”
Cat Walsh, Year 3 Rivington Class Teacher, Primrose Hill School, Lancashire
“What a fantastic, interactive visit. Pupils loved the journey Claire took them on...even down to the small details in how Marty Moose took shape! It is not very often pupils get to share both an illustrator and an author's perspective in one sitting. Thoroughly recommend!”
Nicola, Deputy Head Statham Primary School, Lymm
'We enjoyed Claire's visit to our school so much. We have had quite a few author visits over the years, but this was definitely one of the best! Claire was so engaging and enthralled the children with her stories of how she became an illustrator and what influences her as an author. Claire connected so well with our children; they were all engaged throughout and were hanging onto her every word. The children loved having the opportunity to draw Marty Mouse and they were all really proud of what they had achieved during the session. Claire's session was funny, interesting and inspiring. I feel sure that there will be lots of our children doodling and drawing in their own notebooks following Claire's visit! Thank you so much.'
Kate Brookes, Headteacher - Davyhulme Primary School.
