School assembly (Talk), Writing workshops
Jenny’s assemblies involve a super miraculous record breaking fact quiz that will deliver on the promise of a broad and balanced curriculum. For instance, did you know there was a time when kids could be popped in the mail to their grandparents? There may also be record breaking attempts involving socks. And could you be the teacher who can finally crush a watermelon with their thighs?
Along with the fun, she conveys an important message about happiness, empathy and looking out for others.
For writing workshops, Jenny can offer a lesson on newspaper report writing, with a difference. We look at the humour that can be found in local news headlines (man found with 150 turtles hidden in his trousers) and create a new article on the Barry festival from The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates.
She is also happy to liaise with schools if they would like bespoke workshops on something specific like Character or Story Planning.

“Jenny’s events are fantastic and super engaging! They are perfectly pitched for Y5 & Y6 and have the perfect balance between being a lot of fun and being informative and inspiring for children wanting to know more about creative writing.”
Mariana Mouzinho Creative Learning & Engagement Seven Stories
Jenny came and gave two talks for us at Durham School. The first was to 6th formers about how to write, how to get started and the processes of getting published. She was enthusiastic and humorous whilst also giving lots of valuable information and advice. The second was to a large group of year 7s. They loved hearing parts of the book, debating the best facts they, and Freddie, knew and asking questions. Jenny is a warm and engaging speaker who the students were listening to even before she threw in Freddo frogs as prizes for the best fact! I can highly recommend Jenny as an excellent person to come and speak to different groups about her own books and getting published in general.

Jenny Pearson’s World Book Day assembly for our junior children was spellbinding! She held 240 children captive while she regaled them with the inspirations she used in creating her celebrated children’s novel ’The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates’. Her enthusiasm for writing was infectious and the children were inspired not only to re-examine the everyday miracles in their own lives but also to turn them in to inspirations for their own stories and characters. Brilliant!!
