Jim delivers fun, interactive assemblies and workshops based on his Buzz Sausage Wolf and/or The Caravan at the Edge of Doom book series.
Buzz Sausage Wolf events are ideal for Years 1-3 (and potentially Reception). The Caravan at the Edge of Doom events are ideal for Years 4-6 (and potentially Year 3).
Typically, a full day could involve four sessions plus a book signing. This might take the form of an introductory assembly for all students in the relevant Key Stage, followed by three class-sized workshops (plus a book signing). Or it could be two assemblies (for Key Stage 1 and 2) plus two workshops and a book signing.
Assemblies are usually 45 minutes and workshops are 45-60 minutes.
A half day would involve two sessions plus book signing.
All of the above is flexible, and Jim is happy to tailor the visit to suit your school's particular requirements.
A former teacher and comedian, Jim’s events are engaging, accessible and entertaining. His friendly, inclusive approach encourages all children to celebrate the power of their imaginations.

'Thank you for yesterday's visit. The children have been talking about Jim's presentation (particularly the sleeping bag part!) non-stop today and we have had lovely feedback from parents about how well the book buying was organised too! We look forward to welcoming you back to West Park next year!'

'Years 1-3 were so lucky to have a visit from a real-life author who told us all about his book, Buzz Sausage Wolf. Jim Beckett gave a very entertaining assembly where we got to think about unlikely friendships between animals (how would a shark and a bee be friends?), hear a silly song sung by an orangutan, and create our very own sequel!'

'Jim's workshop was very engaging. We really enjoyed hearing about his writing process and how he works with the illustrator. He made the session great fun and gave the children opportunities to create their own portals, survival kits and monsters. We were even treated to a live reading and ukulele playing. Thanks, Jim, for all the hard work you put in to making this workshop so enjoyable.'
