JP is an award-winning children's author and Sunday Times bestseller. Her novel Birdie was shortlisted for the Yoto Carnegie Medal 2026 and has won the Diverse Book Awards, the Young Quills Historical Fiction Prize, and the UKLA Shadowers' Choice Award 2026. Her secondary title, The Haunting of Tyrese Walker, won the Renaissance Quiz Writers Award and is studied in secondary schools as part of the Oxford University Press Rollercoaster series. Alongside her children's fiction she writes adult crime and thrillers, has judged the Jhalak Prize. JP covers the age range from Year 3 to sixth form and is just as at home with a hall of reluctant Year 10 readers as with Key Stage 2.

Writing Fear -psychological & supernatural horror
Draws on The Haunting of Tyrese Walker - winner of the Renaissance Award and part of the Oxford University Press Rollercoaster series, already studied in schools. Covers building dread, pacing a scare, and using atmosphere and the unseen. Topics include tension and the gothic, as well as themes of grief, guilt, and the past.
