Type of Artist:
Illustrator/Author of Pictures Books
Teach children how to create characters and write stories for them
I read out my own stories but not a ‘story teller’
Lively, informative and interactive drawing sessions. I quickly draw as I tell the audience how I work to create fantastic characters.
My sessions are fast paced and I often read my stories, use props, include drama, audience participation is welcome. I always try to fit in a quick draw-along-with-liz session at the end where I show them step by step how to draw humans/animals using shapes on a sheet.
The teachers get to keep my large pictures and I always give them a massive amount of hand drawn work sheets to take away for the kids.
I also offer creative writing workshops.
Any age but I prefer primary/early years.
I’ve worked with reluctant adults, shy teens and sqawky nursery children. I honestly don’t mind!
I usually feel the most comfortable with 3 classes so up to 90 max for a talk and workshop This all depends on the ages of the children-I prefer smaller numbers for a workshop if the children are very young and needy (2 classes)
I do approx. 5 x 45min talks or
3 talks in the morning and two afternoon workshops to selected year groups
45mins to an hour to 90 mins to a whole morning/afternoon
Anywhere! Quite happy to travel to any school that wants me as long as I have time to travel the day before and a hotel to sleep in
If I have to travel more than 2 hours I do prefer staying over the night before.
I travel by car to most events.
I will get the train if it is a difficult place to reach/lengthy car journey. I would need a flipchart providing if I am not arriving in my car.
Yes - I always bring my DBS and PLI with my on the day

'I thought she was absolutely amazing.....a fantastic story teller and a brilliant artist. She pitched everything just right and engaged all of the children all of the time, and that's an outstanding skill when you are not familiar with our children.'
'Liz is a fantastic illustrator with incredible talent. She tailored the session to suit the needs of the children and we all really enjoyed it.
'Green 2 loved Liz's illustration session. She kept their attention, were engaged throughout and motivated them to become illustrators for the day. Pupils wanted to go back to class and continue drawing, which was fantastic! Thank you'.
'Still buzzing from today, you were perfect for our kids and going that extra mile pays off as the kids were great for you. Super impressed'

We have been fortunate here at Armthorpe Academy in having Liz Million visit us several times. There is always real buzz amongst our students when they know a visit from Liz is imminent; her workshops are educational, engaging, entertaining and fun but above all totally inclusive and suitable for all abilities both at lower Secondary and Primary age.
