Testimonials:

Pelham were thrilled to be visited by Lui as part of our World Book Day celebrations, who spoke engagingly about her fabulous book 'Land of the Last Wildcat.'  Her talk to our Key Stage Two pupils was wonderful and had a perfect balance of oracy opportunities with question and answers with children and interesting video clips that had the pupils undivided attention.  I have never been approached by so many members of staff before after a guest speaker, to comment on how much they enjoyed it and enquiring as to whether Lui would be back for her next book!  Lui spoke movingly about not seeing herself in books as a child, about representation of multiple-heritage children in fiction and about growing up as a 'latchkey kid;' all which I thought were just important themes to explore and talk to our pupils about.  We also loved hearing about her important work on conservation, which was incredibly moving and I'm sure inspired our pupils!  We would absolutely love to have Lui come back again and highly recommend inviting her to schools for an author visit.

Emma Berry, Reading Lead, Pelham Primary

We were delighted to welcome author Lui Sit to visit us and talk about her wonderful book – Land of the Last Wildcat. Our Junior School and Year 6 student from Dundonald Primary School had a fantastic time hearing about her writing journey. Learning about the story and asking some brilliant questions.  Big thank you to Lui for inspiriting our young readers and helping us celebrate the joy of books and storytelling on World Book Day

Hall School

Earlsfield Library hosted the fabulous author Lui Sit for an inspiring  talk about her book – Land of the Last Wildcat. Lui talked about what inspired her and the children left feeling excited and motivated to write their own stories. The Earlsfield Library staff and GLL Literary Champion, Katy Homden, also had a fantastic time.

GLL Literary Foundation

We had a highly enjoyable and inspirational visit from Lui Sit this morning. The children were captivated by her presentation about, Land of the Last Wildcat, and loved hearing all about Lui's background - which ultimately lead to her becoming a published author. Her love of cats and their involvement in the story was, of course, a big plus for a class of 9 and 10 years olds too! As the class teacher, I found her talk engaging, accessible for all and loved seeing the looks of wonder on my class' faces as they hung on Lui's every word and participated actively with her planned activities (eg. creating their own mythical creature). It is hard to believe that this was one of Lui's first school visits; she is a natural! We have continued reading Wildcat together in our class and are already looking forward to subsequent releases! Thank you, Lui!

Wimbledon Chase Primary School

The hall full of bookworms were mesmerised by Lui’s beautiful readings from ‘The Last Wildcat’, and inspired by her memories of growing up wild and fighting hard to protect Australia’s ancient forests and wild spaces
