“Matt Brown engages brilliantly with pupils and students – he manages to be both funny and encouraging, drawing everyone in the room into his sessions. I have really enjoyed working with him and his book is going to be a hit with young people, with plenty of ‘gross’ elements to make it particularly appealing to boys!”
Jim Sells,National Literacy Trust,Premier League Reading Stars Programme Manager
“Matt’s events are energetic, very funny and loved by audiences. He really interacts with the kids, engaging them with an infectious sense of humour that has them asking great questions. Compton Valance is a wonderful invention and a perfect way to demonstrate that actions do have consequences! We hope he will be returning to future Edinburgh International Book Festivals.”
Janet Smyth,Edinburgh International Book Festival,Children & Education Programme Director
“I can't recommend a visit from Matt Brown enough. He was absolutely fantastic when he came into school to introduce his book 'Compton Valance'. Clearly a natural with children, he captured their interest straight away with his humorous and interactive delivery. Matt's energy was contagious and it was clear that all children -Year 3 to Year 6 (and teachers too) were transfixed during the whole assembly. The children loved the opportunity to meet a real life author and get their books signed.
It was clear from discussions afterwards how inspired the children were to read his book -including reluctant readers. Some children even talked about becoming authors themselves! Thanks again.”
L Tiddy, Year 3 teacher, Whitchurch Combined Primary School
