Type of Artist:
I often work with classes or year groups of children in primary schools, sharing books with them, talking about where story ideas come from, how to shape those ideas into stories, and how books are made.
We might play with some story ideas, and of course I’m happy to answer any questions. Working that way, I can work with each year group in a primary school in a single day.
I am happy to take a short assembly by way of introducing myself to the children.
Sometimes I’m asked to run writing workshops for children. I also teach adults who want to write for children.
The full primary school age range.
Whatever suits the school within the school day.
Children of nursery/Reception age probably do best with about twenty minutes, but by year 6 an hour, even up to an hour and a half can work well.
I’m happy to sign books in lunch hours or after school.
Based in Cambridgeshire.
Happy to travel, although overnight expenses will be needed if the distance from home makes that necessary.
Car @ 45p per mile, or train.

I would have no hesitation at all in recommending Pippa wholeheartedly for any author activities with schools or community groups. Pippa's name came highly recommended to me last year when I was seeking authors/illustrators for a project consulting children (of very diverse backgrounds, needs and abilities) about books through a series of fun workshops. This was an unusual and challenging activity, but Pippa proved to be adept in working effectively to develop and deliver a workshop which perfectly matched the needs and interests of the project, the school and - most importantly - the children themselves.
She developed an exceptionally good rapport with the children and staff alike, and the workshop proved to be amongst the most successful and popular of the project. Pippa is a highly personable, professional and motivating writer whom I believe could engage and enthuse any group of children.
