Type of Artist:
Talks, readings, workshops and activity sessions
Talk: I’ll be talking about the process of writing, from having ideas and revising them through to the process of having a book illustrated and published. The aim is to empower and inspire all students to write, not just creative stories, but also about their passions and interests and using writing as a way to collate and share information with others.
I also hope to elevate the humble worm with its super-pooping ability and support school environmental messages, as well as celebrating scientific methods and the wonderful historical figure, Charles Darwin.
A Reading and Q&A about worms and writing
Workshops: Writing fiction, nonfiction, science experiments, fun outdoor activities and crafts (depending on the age of the group and to fit in with current learning).

Darwin’s Super-Pooping Worm Spectacular
“Polly was a thoroughly interesting guest for our home education group. Both children and adults enjoyed listening to her talk about her book and talking about her experiences of writing - from the inspiration for Darwin's Super-Pooping Worm Spectacular to the process of getting published. A wonderful experience for children to meet someone who has succeeded and be inspired themselves.
Polly's book itself, was a wonderful addition to our topic on gardening and minibeasts, providing both humour and fascinating facts on an unusual subject."
Claire, The Hangout (home education group)
“I remember some of the children and parents saying...
“I really enjoyed it. It was really great to learn all the different facts about worms”
“I hope I don’t ever come across a worm that long”
“It was great”
Angela, Manager of Watford Central Library
