Workshop includes brief description of my background, interest in the subject of supposedly mythological creatures. Show them what’s in the book-there are maps, diagrams, illustrations of flora and fauna, also including two short reading-on form Minnie’s POV and one from the young Bigfoot’s POV, worksheets, quiz,
The book is in dual narrative form, so we start with Minnie. I will read 3-5 pages of early part. Then at some later point will read early text from the young Sasqutch’s point of view.
I use a big map of the world showing USA to illustrate how early pioneers travelled across country encountering indigenous tribes who spoke of ‘the giant hairy people’ and I then list the different clan names for ‘Bigfoot’ getting the children to repeat these words.
I pass round A4 copies of the illustrations in the book showing the maps, diagrams of the cabins, and drawings of the flora and fauna in the forest.
Worksheets will include matching up collective nouns with animals, a ‘interesting words from the reading’ section, a fun mind-reading game (Bigfoots partly communicate telepathically!) quiz about animals and trees if there’s time.
There is an illustration to colour in. There will also be a Resources Pack for teachers to use after the children have read the book, which will be sent with worksheets.
