Type of Artist:
Assembly with whole school – smaller group creative writing workshops.
An assembly with a key stage or whole school if appropriate. Use of props/photographs. Talk about my journey as a writer from early school days, later teaching days and success. Sessions are always interactive and lively!
Reading from one of my books followed by creative workshops, preferably with a class. We could cover story writing, poetry or another genre the school requested. I was a primary teacher for many years and find working with young minds a joy and privilege.
8-12 year olds, as this age range suits my middle grade books. Year 4 to Year 7. But happy to work with any age group, including infants and would tailor the session appropriately.
150 talk 30 workshop
Typically three. An assembly and one workshop in the morning. One longer workshop in the afternoon. But very flexible!
Happy to do one 60 minutes session if in the northwest. Morning and whole day sessions also great.
Don’t normally use tech – think kids watch screens enough! I do have lots of visuals and encourage a lot of audience participation
Anywhere if school is super keen and reading one of my books!
Within 60 miles of Chester is easy.
Car normally – 40p per mile.

“It was an absolute pleasure to work with Ros as part of the James Reckitt Hull Children’s Book Award. She connected brilliantly with all audiences, both in person and via online platforms, and was completely engaging. She encouraged all pupils to write and send her their stories and poems, to which she personally responded to. Now that is going the extra mile! We will most definitely be doing school tours in the future with Ros.”
Amy Jeffrey, Learning and Engagement Development Manager, Hull Schools’ Library Service
“We had a fantastic day with Ros, who inspired the whole school reading and writing. The children were engaged and enthused from start to finish. We have lots of children who now want to be authors when they grow up. Thank you for sharing your passion for what you do!”
Head teacher. Ashton Hayes Primary School
“Ros’s infectious passion for writing was only eclipsed by her evident joy in sharing this with the pupils. They loved the workshops and staff could relax in the knowledge they were working alongside an experienced classroom practitioner. A truly memorable day of creativity!’
