“A fabulous day and the children loved it. The way Ruth fitted into our timetable and adjusted the sessions to the age group was wonderful.”
Gosforth Central Middle School, Newcastle
"Ruth Eastham visited Hurlingham School in December 2015; she delivered a range of talks and workshops which, as well as being highly entertaining, made the children think about the writing process and evaluate their own approach to creativity. Ruth's books are thought-provoking and recognise the maturity in insight and empathy that can be achieved by pupils in the oldest classes of the primary school.

Ladybarn Primary School in Manchester:
‘Ruth really inspired my class, who were really keen to continue their stories at home. Many are desperate to find out what happens in The Jaguar Trials.’
F. Ogunyemi Year 4 Teacher
Year 5 loved it and the kids were so inspired that they went back to class and we turned it into a great creative writing session. A few children wrote the best piece of the year.
J. Ramsey Year 5 Teacher
The children were really proud of their writing at the end and wanted to continue it back in the classroom.
N. Bashir Year 6 Teacher
We had more book orders from Ruth’s visit than any who have previously been. She has made a great impression.
V. Foster Receptionist
Ruth was very well received, she got the children really enthusiastic and they produced some great pieces of writing, especially evident in our less enthusiastic writers – several reluctant writer boys wanted to stay in at playtime to finish theirs off!
L.Green Assistant Headteacher
The buzz around the school for the whole day Ruth was with us was fantastic. The entire Key Stage Two wanted to spend extra time on their creative writing in the days that followed, whilst the number of children who wanted to order Ruth’s books following her visit was amazing.
I.Caldwell Deputy Headteacher
Ruth Eastham is a great author: her books consistently have exciting plots coupled with issues that really make the reader think and empathise. I've seen students who've missed a couple of days desperate to catch up, and boys who could be described as reluctant readers sneakily reading ahead under the table in class.
More than that, she's great with children. We have her in to work with Years 5 and 6 (both of whom study one of her books) every year. Without fail, she captures their attention, makes them think, and helps them develop pieces of writing that they are rightly proud of - and all this with a cohort of ninety... We can't speak highly enough of her.
