Zehra Hicks’ events combine talks, readings, and fun, interactive workshops. She loves visiting schools, it’s one of the best parts of her job - to inspire children and encourage creativity through drawing and writing.
Age 3-11, Reception, KS1, KS2
Happy to combine classes but prefer up to 30 for class workshops, can do any number of children for a talk and full school assemblies
As long as I have a break for lunch and a mini morning break I’m happy to fit in as many workshops as you can in your timetable, ideally no less than 45 mins per workshop.
20-30 mins for a talk, 45-60 mins for a workshop, plus time for signing afterwards
I live in Epsom, just a few miles out of London in Surrey. Happy to travel within 60 miles for a day trip, would consider further if overnight expenses are met.

"Zehra Hicks gave our Key Stage 1 classes such wonderful sessions today, and they really enjoyed them. Please thank her for the great energy, creativity and connection she had with the children!! It was our first virtual author visit and I'm inspired to arrange more - thank you!" C. Bou, Broomfield House April 2021
"Zehra came to Horsham to work with a group of thirty Year 5 able writers from local schools. The children were fascinated by the process of producing a picture book story for younger children. Zehra’s ideas and drawings were an inspiration to them. They planned, and started to create, their own picture books, which they were keen to take home to finish. I would thoroughly recommend a visit from Zehra." Vee Willis, North Heath School, Horsham
“Our children enjoyed planning stories with Zehra and it lead to the children enthusiastically writing their own stories. Some of our reluctant boy writers were most inspired as they were enthused by the idea of planning their work through drawings.” Maureen Basford, Abbots Ripton Primary School
“We have been so lucky to have Zehra Hicks being able to run some fantastic author events at Epsom Library. Not only does she entertain the crowds with her animated story telling, she does craft events with the children and engages enthusiastically with her audience.” Julie Hudson, Epsom Library
"Year 1 loved Zehra's books and the classes had lots of questions to ask her about how she wrote and illustrated her stories. Her enthusiastic manner inspired the children to develop their own ideas and they learnt about the importance of drafting in the process of authorship. An exciting and valuable learning experience!" Helen Vidal, Stamford Green Primary School
